Ol' Hallow's Eve ie... HALLOWEEN!!!

Alright, so this year for Halloween Jordy and I were invited to a costume party and we decided (after many disagreements) that we would be pirates. It was very exciting. We found both of our costumes at Value Village and at first we were not so sure they would turn out great. And well after much time and care here is the result.

I didn't really have a model for how my costume was supposed to look... but it turned out ok.

We were pretty impressed with how Jordy's costume turned out. Very Johnny Depp. And together we thought we looked pretty good. Sorry this one is all blurry. My sister took it and didn't let it focus I guess.

The party was tons of fun, towards the end though Jordy started to not feel very good and by the time we got home he really wasn't feeling good. He had chills and a temp of over 38 degrees celsius. He's still ill but hopefully with lots of bed rest and relaxation he will get better. Hopefully this isn't H1N1. Other than that though we had a good weekend.

Till next time.

Another step out of the way...

A new season requires a new background! I am especially fond of this one because I love fall colors. I'm excited to see the leaves change color and to see the thermometer drop from the high 20s (which hasn't happened yet, but the weather man promises I will be able to wear all my sweaters by next week). Don't get me wrong, I do love summer, but by the end of any season I'm glad to welcome in the next one. So come on Autumn and bring all your fun and craziness with you, we're ready for it!

Now that I got all my fall excitedness (is that a word?) out of me I'm proud to say that Jordy has finally put in all of his applications for work next year. He had been putting this off for over a month now and I was seriously starting to get worried. All we need is for him to be done school... and unemployed due to procrastination! But as always my hubby pulled through and got it done. He says that the wait was necessary so that he could make an informed decision on where to apply. I'm just glad it's done. We decided to apply to a few different firms hoping to get a few choices back. He applied to a number of different areas as well (much to my liking), such as Red Deer, Edmonton, Airdrie, and... (drum roll)... HALIFAX! That's right, I am hoping that we will escape SOAB (as Mardy puts it) and get to see more of the world. I mean it's no Bournemouth, but I'm proud to be Canadian. (haha, and just less adventurous.) So secretly I have my fingers crossed about the two firms we applied to in Halifax. I think it would be great to live on the coast, and experience the other half of life in Canada. I was never one who hoped to live in Southern Alberta my whole life, and well, this would be a change that I would be comfortable with. So fingers crossed.

Other than that we are going through life quite nicely. Jordy's back to school now and in his last year! I'm working full time and loving my work. I've decided to pull out my trumpet again to get back in shape and hopefully scrounge up a few students to add some extra cash to my wallet. So if you know any young aspiring trumpeters, send them my way! Brittany has finally moved into the basement (haha, that sounds kinda funny) and we have the joy of driving her to work every morning at 6:00 AM... that's right AM. Ok so Jordy has that joy... (I do it when he's had a late night). Our One Year Anniversary is coming up in a few months. :) Other than that there isn't much to report on. Hopefully we'll find out about the applications Jordy's made.

Till next time!

10 things I love about summer

Summer is so great for so many reasons...

1) Sunshine! I for one always miss it during the Canadian winters.
2) Shorts and Tees. The freedom from winter wear is exhilarating!
3) Fruit Salads. Ok fruit in general is soo yummy, and much cheaper in the summer.
4) Swimming. Yes, there are indoor pools, but lakes are fun.
5) Warm nights with friends. So fun to play outside till 10:00pm and it still be light out.
6) Ice cream. Who can resist when its plus 20 out there?
7) Clear starry nights. Love it.
8) Family Trips and Reunions! Vacation time.
9) Camping. The great outdoors.
10) Playing in the rain. No snow. Enough said.

What are your 10 favourite things about summer? Have I missed any good ones?

Going GREEN!

I'm not one of those people who is going to go crazy with trying to save the environment, but I have come a little way by doing a few simple things that make me feel like I'm not destroying the Earth. Jordy and I have a beautiful front lawn this summer and so we needed to purchase a lawn mower so it doesn't turn into a forest. We don't have a ton of money to spend on a gas or electric mower so we went to Canadian Tire and found a good old Reel Mower.
Haha, alright, so its a little more modern than this one, but this is essentially the idea. No motor. Just the power of your legs. Pure GREEN energy!

Another way we've tried to save the Earth is converting to the Green Shopping bags.

So you don't have to start wearing clothes made of burlap, or live life with the heat and lights off. Just start small and be practical. We have a small lawn, so the Reel Mower works for us, we also had been given a few of those bags so we didn't have to pay much for them.

Just keeping up and being a little more Earth Friendly.

Summer has arrived and nothing starts it better than a PARADE!

So the season of sun has arrived in Southern Alberta and have we ever been enjoying it! We went out to Taber for a Saturday to help my Mother-In-Law work on her yard. It also happened to be the weekend of Taber Days. So around 10:00am we took a break and headed down to the parade. It was a blast. Raven (our neice) was cute as always, and everyone had fun gathering candy and looking at the floats.
The Pipers were a big hit.
The cute little Police Chihuahua got a few laughs.
Everyone having a good time, I don't remember what they were looking at for this one.

August's first parade! :D

Family fun!

Good ol' trampoline!

Summer is going to bring lots of fun memories for us and I'm so excited for the great weather that has decided to grace us with its presence in Lethbridge. Love the heat, love the fun, love the time with family!

Boring

So I guess our lives have been pretty boring lately, which is all I can say as an excuse for not updating. However, since the last entry the year has moved along like it does every year. Jordy successfully finished his third year of his degree but thanks to taking only four classes a semester he is enjoying two classes of summer school. So due to his school, that puts a pause on all summer related trips or activities we had planned. But don't worry, he'll be done this semester at the end of June and then we'll hit summer running hard. Yay Camping! I've been able to go back to working one job and have been blessed with full time hours almost every week. Jordy is still pulling extra weight by going to school and working three nights a week (sometimes more!).

My little sister Brittany plans to move into our basement suite at the end of June and I look forward to having her close. We've already started helping her to find furniture and such. (We decided to lend her a nice desk we had sitting around and perhaps some other stuff, we'll see.) We hope she'll do well down there, but it will take a lot of work on her part. We wish her the best though!

We are looking forward to having fun (as much as school permits) the next few months with planning on going to a little bit of Whoop Up Days and if I'm lucky, some Stampede. Thunder In The Valley is coming up fast and that is always a blast! And as it will be Jordy's first time ever, we're looking forward to it even more.

We've continued to add the finishing touches to our humble abode, we finally put some pictures in the empty frames on our walls, now Lara can't bug us about that anymore! :) And I bought a little potted plant for our living room (here's hoping it lives more than a month!!! Fingers crossed!)

Hopefully I'll be able to update more, but its hard when there isn't anything amazing to report on. Hope I haven't bored you all to much. Till next time. Cheers.

New, New, New

Hello again! I realized its been a very long time since I've updated our blog. Sorry it took so long but this time I have such happy news to share!!

Jordy and I had a baby nephew born Saturday March 21, 2009 at 3:30 AM!

August Dee Litchfield!

And boy is he a cute one!

We are all so excited to welcome this little one into this world! Best of all it was almost on my birthday! He was born exactly (to the hour) 24 hours before me, but 20 years later! I'd better not ever forget his birthday! ha!

And so I have left the years of teens behind to look ahead to my twenties. Very strange feeling to think that I've lived for two decades now. And what have I got to say for myself?! Well here goes...

I have a wonderful husband who loves me as dearly as I love him!

I have a beautiful home.
I've expanded my skills as a homemaker quite a bit (I can survive in the kitchen now!).
I'm serving my first "big calling" as a Primary teacher.
My testimony has continued to grow.

I look at the above list and can't help but feel like I've accomplished something. I hope I'm not alone in sometimes feeling the bogged down, never-accomplish-anything-important kinda days, but every once in a while I look at my life and feel great! So I guess I could say that I had a very good birthday!
